Organic September

So you know Stoptober, you’ve dabbled in Veganuary, but you may not yet be aware of Organic September. The name is admittedly not as catchy, but the concept is simple. Founded by the Soil Association, Organic September is a campaign to get more UK residents to buy organic food, and it’s a campaign we thoroughly support.

According to Soil Association in 2015, 45% of our food in Britain was found to contain pesticide residues and now that over 320 pesticides can be used in standard farming, those figures continue to rise. However, research suggests that if all farming in England and Wales were to become organic, pesticide use could drop up to 98%.

Organic farmers are permitted to use just 15 pesticides, which are all derived from natural ingredients including citronella and clove oil under very restricted circumstances, creating a better environment, an increase in wildlife and healthier produce for us.
